This is for a small project with a small organization, so not a big budget in tack. However, it’s a great guy and great company that it’s for.

Here are some files that i don’t believed I have ever used. About a year and a half ago, a friend scanned these in and sent them over to me from Germany, so I don’t take credit for these. I never got around to using them, so for a nice Friday treat, some more elements.

Spring Cleaning

March 29, 2007

Going over some files, and trying to ‘spring clean’ if you will, i found some mocks I did for a project that never feel through. These are pretty rough, but the concept is nice. I will admit, the typography was inspired from the Diesel Fifty Book, but i did want a opportunity to try it out. Anyway, i dig the denim map, that was hard, but fun to do. something about blue and brown.

Here is a link to something else i found. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since i worked at that Magazine. I loved it and hated it at the same time. I will say however, due to that job, i can’t stand Kanye West, Death Cab for Cutie and Sufjan Stevens. (well, i do listen to a couple of them once in a while.. can’t hate it completely..) Give me some Front242 and I’ll be quite content.

oh, here is that link: hydro old stuff

Another Frack’n Bird

March 29, 2007

Here is a forgotten piece i did for a ski company a while back. Not the asian obey esq background, but the bird. I just dropped it on there to give it a little somethin’ somethin’. I can’t believe i forgot about this piece. Quite happy with it, but granted, it’s another damn bird. Jesus H. Christ.. * Note to self, stop drawing birds for a few weeks.

Here are a couple shirts i did for Pyzel Surfboards this past season. The printing actually turned out pretty nice. The company is a more grassroots company and I always take a little time to help the smaller surf companies because it’s nice to not always support the mega brands, but the ones who are trying to get into the industry.

Sea World

March 28, 2007

I was out of the office at Sea World yesterday with my family and Brother/Sister in law. It was a fun day, however i wasn’t as productive as i wished. The funny part is that once i got home, all i could think about was clicking my mouse, taking care of a few projects, maybe start a illustration, but no. Feet were tired, i was tired, and that Starbucks coffee i got, had no punch to get me juiced up for a late night. Damn. but all good.

When i’m at places like that, i people watch and see what the common thing people are wearing, as in shirts or brands. Here is my recap: Volcom.. only a hand few. Billabong. There were a few pieces being worn, but not that many. Quiksilver probably was the dominate brand of the day. I saw maybe 2 slogan based shirts, (thank god, hate those things). Rusty had a few pieces worn, didn’t see any Rip Curl and probably a handful of skate shirts, but mostly by young kids.

So i’m back today, doing what i do best, .. hiding in front of the computer, clicking the mouse!

Tomer Hanuka

March 28, 2007

Tomer Hanuka’s Illustrations are amazing. The art of story-telling and pure emotion plays a massive part in his work. The piece above is titled “Between Iraq and a hard place :: the Iraqi Refugees Crisis”, and to me, it’s a very dramatic piece that encourages you to think.

The other part of his illlustration style that stands out is his color usage. it’s a beautiful blend of hues that brings that extra something to his pieces. Also, there is a slight Los Fokos style in work, or maybe Los Fokos reflects his work, but all the same. I’m a fan. (Besides, i wanted a chance to name drop Alex!!, ha)

Foundation Finals

March 27, 2007

Here are the two pieces i provided to Quiksilver for their Foundation project. The Quiksilver Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to benefiting and enhancing the quality of life for communities of boardriders across the world by supporting environmental, educational, health and youth-related projects.

It is a honor and a pleasure to be selected as a artist for their artist series. Thank you guys!

Flow Snowboards

March 27, 2007

Here are a few boards from last season that Hydro74 did up for Flow. I had the chance to work with Julie West and Danny Jones on a few pieces. Both artist are amazing and it was a pleasure to get them involved. I’m always looking for people to assist me on projects. Hit me up if you ever want to colab and be on the short list of designers i like to use.

Here is a larger version of the boards:

Typography V2.

March 26, 2007

Here is a collection of random typography treatments that I believe are not on my site. I really enjoy working with typography. It provides a great challenge to take something simple like a font and seeing what you can add, subtract or even build. Some standard styles always show through in the work since there is always a rush on almost every project, but I do look forward to those projects where i can figure out something or learn something new.

I hope you enjoy these and feel inspired to open up illustrator and see what you can construct.
