New Font, maybe.

March 21, 2007

I was working on some new typography and discovered a simple structure I like. It’s not finished yet, and more than likely it will be all caps with a few different variations in the letters. If you are interested in it, let me know, might encourage me to spend a little time and finish it. But so far, I’m pretty stoked on it.

Is that LA Latino? (As in Los Angeles)
If not, I think it would be “El Latino.” I’m no expert though. Maybe ask one to be sure.

Very slick. Almost a retro vegas vibe in the “latino” example there, the way the characters interlock. Nice stuff.

yeah, it’s suppost to be L.A. Latino. I liked how the La fit together. It’s not the actual name, i haven’t even named it yet. Probably won’t get finished, ha!

nice, what program do you use making fonts? i tried out fontographer for a project in school a year ago, but i didn’t feel comfortable with it tho…might just have to learn how to use it properly.

  6. i’d love to see your take on a placa-style font (like cholo calligraphy/graffiti). i think the design world is finally ready for something like this, but only from someone who can do it justice- which you can.

yeah, Latino-Gangster flavor for sure… famous stars and stripes-ish.
reminds me of some lettering by Mr. Cartoon ( and OG Abel ( i’m from so. cal where that whole scene spawned from. used to do graff in L.A. all time as a youth. so yeah, i’m feeling that font. bust it out Josh. it’ll be a pleasure to use.
